The New York Jets made a big splash in free agency when they signed wide receiver Corey Davis to a three-year, $37.5 million deal with $27 million guaranteed. Adam Schefter of ESPN broke the news:

Davis played the previous four seasons with the Tennessee Titans. He put up the best numbers of his career during the 2020 season when he caught a career-high 65 passes for 984 yards. Those numbers were good to be second on the team behind A.J. Brown.

The 26-year-old Davis is currently ranked in the top 30 among active players for yards per reception with 13.8. Those numbers went up last season with an impressive 15.1 yards per reception.

With enormously gifted workhorse running back Derrick Henry garnering much of the attention of opposing defenses, Davis and the receivers were able to feast.

Jets Adding A Big Weapon

The Jets signing Davis was the team’s second major move on Monday. The team broke the seal on their own free agency signings by signing former Detroit Lions linebacker Jarrad Davis (no relation) to a one-year, $7 million deal.

The Jets are looking to improve upon one of the worst seasons in franchise history. In 2020 the team finished with a putrid 2-14 record – second-worst in franchise history behind only a 1-15 campaign in 1996.

While the Jets quarterback situation is seemingly in flux – with the underwhelming Sam Darnold taking most of the snaps last year. They also have the aging Joe Flacco on their roster. One thing is for certain, the Jets receiving corps has seen an upgrade today.
