Former New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan thinks that current Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh would be the perfect man for the job with the Jets. Well, after plugging himself for the job first.

Harbaugh said after the Ravens' Wild Card Round loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday that he expects to be back next year.

Harbaugh is under contract through the end of 2019, so Baltimore would either need to trade him or fire him in order to make a head-coaching change.

Of course, reports are that Harbaugh would not want to be traded to another club, as he would not want to deprive his potential new team of assets, which is obvious.

The Ravens have also thrown their support behind Harbaugh throughout the year, saying that they want him at the helm for 2019 and beyond, but the fact that Baltimore had not yet worked out an extension with Harbaugh is a bit of a red flag.

The 56-year-old has been the Ravens' head coach since 2008, leading the team to a Super Bowl title during the 2012-13 campaign and taking Baltimore to seven playoff appearances, including three AFC North division titles, overall.

Throughout his 11 years as Ravens coach, Harbaugh has posted a record of 104-72.

The Jets are coming off of a 4-12 season and fired Todd Bowles after he went 26-40 over four seasons with the franchise. New York has not made the playoffs since the 2010-11 season, when Ryan himself was coach. That year, the Jets went to the AFC Championship Game before falling to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
