Given that Le'Veon Bell held out of his last two training camps with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the fact that he has not been present at voluntary workouts with his new New York Jets club can be viewed by some as somewhat alarming.

But Jets quarterback Sam Darnold is not phased by Bell's absence, saying that Bell has his own way of getting ready and that he and the running back have been communicating:

“No. Me and Le’Veon have been talking,” Darnold said, according to Matt Stypulkoski of NJ Advance Media. “He has his process and what he’s been doing the last few years and it’s been working for him. We’ve been talking, though. I know he’s excited to play with us as much as he can and I know he’s been training a ton, he posts it all over his Instagram. So it’s been really fun to watch that and know how hard he’s working. Then obviously from the football aspect, in terms of learning the offense, that kind of comes with it and I think he’s doing good job of that so far.”

Of course, Bell sat out the entire 2018 campaign due to a contract dispute with the Steelers, and in 2017, he held out through Week 1 before finally returning and Week 2 and playing out the rest of the season.

Given that Bell landed a four-year, $52.5 million contract with the Jets earlier this offseason, money is obviously not an issue for the three-time Pro Bowler, and given that these workouts are “voluntary,” everyone should probably just relax, especially because the Jets don't seem bothered by the situation.
