Former Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph is reportedly a strong candidate to become the New York Jets new defensive coordinator.

The Jets have found their new head coach in former Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase, and it sounds like Joseph could be heading to New York as well.

Joseph worked together in Miami, but both coaches were fired from their respective head coaching jobs this offseason.

However, it appears that they could reunite if Joseph chooses the Jets over the Cincinnati Bengals, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

One strong possibility as defensive coordinator for new #Jets coach Adam Gase is Vance Joseph. Joseph is still in the mix with the #Bengals, but he could land in NYJ if Cincy doesn’t work. Gase and Joseph where together in Miami.

Both Gase and Joseph had disappointing seasons, but they may get a chance to prove themselves once again in a new spot.

The Jets will need to make some roster moves in order to be an AFC East contender once again, and that will require upgrades on both sides of the ball.

But, with a franchise quarterback in place, Gase could have the offense back on track in a hurry. And if Joseph is named the defensive coordinator, he will try to implement consistency in that area.

Either way, the Jets are off and running with Gase as coach, and now it's matter of seeing how much progress the new staff can make in the early going.
