In case you missed it, the New York Jets, according to Adam Lefkoe of Bleacher Report, are attempting to delay guard Kelechi Osemele's shoulder surgery, which he says he needs. They are allegedly doing so by sending blank and incorrect MRI images to doctors.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network has an update on the situation, as he said, via his sources:

“Osemele has NOT been cleared by two Doctors to return to practice. To the contrary, the 2nd doctor Opinion Doctor stated in his report to the team “Surgical intervention and timing is based on symptoms.”Osemele's symptoms currently render him unable to play. He only previously been able to play this season by taking Toradal given to him by the Team Doctor before EVERY game. Despite taking those extremely strong pain masking narcotics, he was still in a great deal of pain while playing and is no longer able to continue doing that.”

According to Brian Costello of the New York Post, two doctors have cleared Osemele to play, even though he said on Friday that he needs to have surgery. They determined that the injury existed before the start of the season and he will be able to play through it.

Per Costello, the Jets want Osemele to practice on Saturday. If he does not, he will face discipline in the form of conduct detrimental to the team, which can be used to void guarantees.

The Jets traded for Osemele in the offseason, sending a fifth-round pick to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for a sixth found pick and the two-time Pro Bowl guard.
