Jimmy Butler was a vital piece of the Philadelphia 76ers' playoff run last season, but the tea leaves are pointing toward an abrupt ending to what was once deemed a promising partnership between the star and the Sixers.

The biggest offer Butler can receive this summer is from the Sixers, amounting to around $190 million spread over five years. Meanwhile, other teams are restricted to a four-year $140 million offer.

While no one is absolutely discounting the Sixers' chances, the Houston Rockets have emerged as a favorite to land the All-Star swingman with the Miami Heat hovering around.

To recall, Miami was a team being floated around the trade deadline as a potential destination for Butler. For Houston, rumors have suggested that a sign-and-trade is the likely course of action, headlined by pieces like Eric Gordon and Clint Capela.

In 55 games for the Sixers last season, Butler normed 18.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.8 steals on 46% shooting from the field and 33% from downtown.

Butler is 29 years old yet already ravaged by a number of injuries in the past. In his eight seasons, the former Marquette Golden Eagle only managed to appear in more than 70 games twice.

This could be Butler's final chance at a massive payday as his championship clock is also ticking. Ironically, the Sixers could afford to give him both.
