The Washington Wizards saw their season come to a disappointing close earlier this week after falling short in Game 7 against the Boston Celtics.

The Wizards had their shortcomings in many regards, one of which that stood out above the rest was the 48-5 edge that the Celtics had in bench points. According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN, it's apparently something that bothered All-Star guard John Wall.

“Forty-eight to five,” were Wall's last words as he took the final walk to the bus.

“Forty-eight to five,” he repeated. “Our bench had five points.”

All five of those points came from Bojan Bogdanovic with the rest of the bench unit going scoreless and overall just 1-of-5 shooting from the field. In fairness, head coach Scott Brooks decided to play heavy minutes with both Wall and Bradley Beal, who each played 44 and 46 minutes respectfully.

Beal stepped up in the big moment scoring a game-high 38 points on an efficient 12-of-22 shooting. Meanwhile, Wall struggled with his shot hitting 8-of-23 field goal attempts including 1-of-8 from beyond the arc. He was a non-factor in the second half shooting 2-of-13 while missing his last 11 shots and going scoreless in the fourth quarter.

Wall's legs may have been more fatigued in the second half due to the increased minute load, he was still part of the reason the Wizards lost. The margin in bench points is glaringly obvious, but he didn't play well enough in the last two quarters. It was simply shared blame for them falling short of finally getting past the Eastern Conference semifinals.
