The Indiana Pacers came to terms with their unrestricted free agent Justin Holiday on Friday, agreeing to bring him back with a 3-year, $18.1 million deal, per Shams Charania.

With signing announcements going left and right on the first day of free agency on Friday, the Pacers prioritized retaining the 6-foot-6 swingman, who came up with a solid first season in Indy in 2019-20. Holiday joined the Pacers as an expiring contract from the Memphis Grizzlies last year in exchange for MarShon Brooks, Wayne Selden Jr. and two future second-round draft picks.

With Pacers All-Star Victor Oladipo still recuperating from a quad injury, the 31-year-old Holiday stepped into his place and played major minutes for ousted head coach Nate McMillan. He tallied 8.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists in 73 games (six starts). Holiday even enjoyed his best scoring night as a pro in a Pacers jersey, dropping 30 markers against the Dallas Mavericks back in April 2019.

Holiday's size and length gives Indiana a reliable defender on the wings, while his ever-improving 3-point stroke (40.5 percent last season) has turned him into a nice 3-and-D option. Justin's return to the Pacers means he'll continue playing alongside his younger brother Aaron, whom the Pacers drafted in 2018.

Looks like all three Holiday brothers will see each other more often next season, as their eldest kin Jrue also recently moved to the Eastern Conference via trade to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Justin Holiday's retention, meanwhile, is indeed a nice insurance piece for Indiana considering the uncertain future of Oladipo. Despite recently making a verbal commitment to the Pacers franchise, most pundits believe Dipo will be moved sometime this season or leave through free agency next year.
