Sacramento Kings shooting guard Buddy Hield has accepted an invitation to the 3-Point Contest, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Hield will take the court among a who's who of NBA 3-point snipers on Feb. 15, looking to take the title home. The guard is averaging 20.3 points and shooting 37.3% from long-range with 178 made triples, second only to the league-leading James Harden of the Houston Rockets, who has made 202 on the season.

The fourth-year guard, who signed a four-year extension with the Kings earlier in the season, also participated in the contest last year for the first time, finishing in third place.

The defending champion, Brooklyn Nets forward Joe Harris, is still mulling whether or not to accept his invitation. Harris is shooting a 39.9% clip from 3-point range and averaging 13.7 points on the season.

Hield will join a cast of elite marksmen like Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers and Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks, as both men accepted the invite from the league. Lillard and Young will be quite busy, as the two were also named to the All-Star team in their respective conferences — Young as a starter and Lillard as a reserve.

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic was invited to take part in the 3-Point Contest as well, but has yet to commit to the event. Doncic also just suffered an ankle injury, so we'll see if he's healthy by the time All-Star Weekend rolls around.

Hield is shooting at his lowest clip since his rookie year, but he's still a formidable shooter (career 40.7%) who can catch fire at a moment's notice and walk away with the trophy.
