The Sacramento Kings have had a disappointing season, after choosing to rebuild and give playing time to their young pieces in hopes to placing the starting pegs in their search for a new core.

Second-year shooting guard Buddy Hield has been part of that core, and even coming off the bench, he's taken his role seriously.

In a game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday, where starter Bogdan Bogdanovic went scoreless, it was Hield who stepped up with some firepower off the bench, despite starting 3-of-10 from the field.

“I'm a shooter, man, and shooters gonna shoot,” Hield said, according to Jason Jones of The Sacramento Bee. “I don't care if I'm 1 for 10, the next shot, I feel I'm going to make it. If I put my head down, I can't worry about the last one, worry about the one you're taking. Just have to stay locked in and focused.”

Despite the loss, Hield finished with 20 points on 7-of-18 shooting from the floor and five rebounds.

“Same mentality the whole time, keep shooting,” Hield said. “What do you think they've got me here for? Make shots, make plays for my teammates and score the ball. I can't run from that. I've got to stay aggressive with whatever I do.”

The rookie out of Oklahoma is shooting only 43.6 percent from the field, but is shooting a blistering 42 percent from deep this season, along with an impeccable 88.7 percent from the foul line.

Hield is still growing into his role with the team, but as long as he keeps firing at such an efficient rate, it won't be long before he finds his niche with this team.
