The Sacramento Kings finally made the blockbuster trade they had hoped they could make. The franchise was desperate to get back to the playoffs. Two days before the NBA trade deadline, they pulled off a huge trade with the Indiana Pacers to try to make it happen.

The Kings sent budding star Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield and Tristan Thompson to the Pacers in exchange for two-time All-Star Domantas Sabonis, Jeremy Lamb, Justin Holiday and a 2027 second-round pick. De'Aaron Fox, who was involved in numerous trade rumors leading up to the trade deadline, will now be teaming up with Sabonis to help the Kings break into the postseason party.

After the trade went down, Fox joked that Hield got traded twice under head coach Alvin Gentry — Hield was drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans, whose head coach at the time was Gentry, and landed in Sacramento in the blockbuster DeMarcus Cousins trade — and said that he will miss Tyrese Haliburton.

Haliburton's presence will indeed be missed by Fox and the Kings. His playmaking brilliance (7.4 assists per game) and incredibly efficient shooting (41.3 percent on 3-pointers) are hard to replicate. Considering his ability to become a high-level player just two years into the league, training him away seemed ill-advised.

Still, Sabonis is a high-quality player who averages 18.9 points, 12.1 rebounds and 5.0 assists. Fox compared his new star teammate to an ox. The comparison makes sense given Sabonis' physical style of play.

The Kings will have to find new shooters to replace Hield and Haliburton and still find a solution to their awful defense. Fox and Sabonis could be a potent tandem, but Sacramento still has work to do leading up to Thursday's deadline.
