For some, exhibition games are viewed as a mere formality. ‘Let's just get through it without any injuries,' they'll say. However, Sacramento Kings head coach Luke Walton says his team is taking this season's NBA Preseason very seriously.

Walton and the Kings are preparing for a set of preseason matchups against the Indiana Pacers in Mumbai, India. The two sides will play in back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday, and Walton is promising “high-level” basketball:

“We love the group that we have and even though we are a new group, we know how to play basketball, we know how to coach basketball. It's about getting our team to come together,” Walton, the former LA Lakers forward, said.

“No matter who is on the court, it's going to be very high-level basketball because both teams know how important it is to us, and how important it is to the NBA.”

Walton, now 39 years of age, was hired as the Kings' head coach back in April. The San Diego native already had ties to the organization, as he and general manager Vlade Divac were once teammates with the Los Angeles Lakers (2004-05).

The Kings fell just shy of making the playoffs last season, finishing with a 39-43 overall record and a No. 9 seed in the Western Conference standings. Hopefully, with Walton's direction, Sacramento will be able to make another push for the postseason.
