According to a report that was issued by Michael Scotto of The Athletic on Thursday afternoon, recently-waived forward Troy Williams is planning to sign a two-way deal with the Sacramento Kings.

Troy Williams, now 23 years of age, was waived by the Pelicans on Thursday. However, he'll need to clear those waivers before suiting up with the Kings, which shouldn't be an issue.

Though he went undrafted in 2016, Williams has played for several NBA teams over the course of his career, including the Pelicans, Memphis Grizzlies, New York Knicks, and Houston Rockets. The Virginia native has also spent some time in the G League (Iowa Energy and Rio Grande Valley Vipers), where he won the Slam Dunk Contest (2017).

Williams made 17 appearances with the Knicks during their 2017-18 regular season campaign, racking up averages of 7.5 points on 49.0 percent shooting from the field (33.3 percent from beyond the arc), 3.5 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in 17.1 minutes per outing.

The Kings, who finished last season with a 27-55 overall record, needed more depth at the wings. All things considered, Williams could see some action in the team's rotation.

The Kings will be back in action on Friday night, when they'll travel to New Orleans for a match-up against the Pelicans. Tip-off inside the Smoothie King Center is set for 8:00 p.m. EST.
