Former Sacramento Kings center Willie Cauley-Stein heaped praise on Sacramento even though his departure didn't exactly end on the best note.

Cauley-Stein described to Jason Jones of The Athletic how he was blindsided by the Kings by not offering him a contract, but he said he still loves the organization despite everything that happened.

“I don’t necessarily think of regrets. I think we could have been more professional both ways, communicating about it,” Cauley-Stein said.

“That’s really on my side. I just think I had a lot of love there and to not get a text or a call from the people that said I’m your guy, I can tell now that I wasn’t. But that’s how it goes, this whole league. Now I know how to approach the next one and the next one. But it’s pure love. I wouldn’t change the opportunity that I had. I had to go through that to get to this point.”

It's nice to see a player appreciate the franchise that gave him his start. Cauley-Stein spent the first four years of his career in Sacramento and made a decent name for himself as an athletic, rim-running center.

Because of his success in Sacramento, he drew the attention of the Golden State Warriors, who offered the big man a contract. Now, Cauley-Stein gets the opportunity to play alongside Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and eventually Klay Thompson.

Props to Cauley-Stein for showing love to the Kings, even after things didn't end amicably.
