The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Chicago Bears 31-17 Sunday. It was a big comeback, as the Vikings had fallen behind 14-3 entering halftime. During the 2nd half, Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins threw three touchdown passes to three different receivers, helping Minnesota finish the season 8-9.

After the win, Cousins spoke to the media. He was asked about his future at the Vikings quarterback and whether or not he would be willing to re-structure his current contract.

As St. Paul Pioneer Press reporter Chris Tomasson notes, Cousins is slated to be a $45 million cap hit next season. That's over 21% of the team's salary cap. A re-structuring could potentially free up cap space to retain key players or go out and sign some help defensively.

However, Cousins did not directly answer the questions.

Quietly, Cousins had an outstanding season for Minnesota. He went 14-22 for 250 yards and three touchdowns in the win Sunday. For the year, he finished completing 66% of his passes. He threw 33 touchdowns to only seven interceptions and over 4,200 yards passing. That is one of the best touchdown to interception ratios in the NFL.

He was also asked about the potential future of head coach Mike Zimmer. Zimmer has reportedly been on the hot seat as the season winded down. When asked specifically whether or not he wanted Zimmer back as head coach, Cousins gave another dodgy answer: “The noise may be loud for you guys,” said Cousins.

Logically, Cousins was referring to the rumors that Zimmer's job security was in jeopardy, but it was strange to not see him back his head coach.
