The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Chicago Bears to end their season on a high note. However, the future of this franchise is up in the air, as they're likely in for a busy offseason. It's unclear what is in store for Mike Zimmer, as rumors of his potential departure continue to develop.
According to Chris Tomasson, Zimmer seems fully aware of the situation going on in Minnesota. Even so, the Vikings have yet to inform Zimmer of their plans moving forward. This franchise will likely take their time before making a final decision.

Considering the Vikings have failed to live up to expectations in recent years, it shouldn't come as a shock if Minnesota opts to fire Mike Zimmer. This team was just unable to get over the hump during his tenure and it might be time for this organization to move on.
Regardless of whether Mike Zimmer is fired or not, the Vikings have a decent roster to build upon. Justin Jefferson is a superstar wide receiver and Dalvin Cook should maintain consistency next year. The defense needs some help, but Minnesota will have the free agency market and the 2022 NFL Draft to build their roster.
Mike Zimmer's career record with Minnesota is 72-56-1. It's not terrible, but the Vikings have failed to make a Super Bowl appearance since he took over as head coach in 2014. Zimmer has coached a competitive group every year, but the franchise might be seeking a change at this time.
We'll see how it plays out, as we should see plenty of news coming in regards to coaching vacancies across the NFL. Will the Vikings join them? Or will Minnesota give Mike Zimmer one more chance? Only time will tell.
