A few hours after the news broke that the Turkish government is seeking to arrest New York Knicks center Enes Kanter for allegedly being a part of a terrorist group, the big man posted a few short responses on Twitter, including this one:

Kanter, who has been in a long-standing feud with the Turkish government, particularly with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, hasn't been afraid to say what's on his mind when talking about Turkey's leader. Kanter has made it known to the public that Erdoğan has abused and threatened his family and friends on multiple occasions in the past, and that he's afraid to go overseas because he might get assassinated.

He didn't even join the Knicks when they flew to London to participate in the team's matchup against the Washington Wizards. Instead, Kanter asked the team's front office to allow him to stay in the United States.

Reports say that TurkishĀ prosecutors are seeking an international arrest warrant for Kanter because they claim he has ties to Fethullah Gulen, who's rumored to be responsible for failed coups in Turkey three years ago.

Kanter denied these accusation in an earlier tweet as well:

The eight-year veteran hasn't returned to Turkey since 2016, and his Turkish passport was revoked the following year.Ā It is unclear if there will be any resolution to this conflict between Enes Kanter and the Turkish administration.
