Former Boston Celtics star point guard Isaiah Thomas is shooting his shot at Tom Thibodeau, who was introduced as the new head coach of the New York Knicks on Thursday.

When Derrick Rose was hurt with the Chicago Bulls, two small guards — DJ Augustin and Nate Robinson — played well under Thibodeau in Rose's absence.

So, Thomas believes he and Thibs could work well together on the Knicks.

Thomas was hoping to get signed by a playoff team after clearing waivers in February. The lefty began the 2019-20 season with the Washington Wizards, but was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers and then got waived by L.A.

Unfortunately, the former All-NBA guard wasn't picked up by anyone and won't be partaking in the bubble games down in Orlando, Florida.

With the Wizards, Thomas averaged 12.2 points and 3.7 assists per game. While he’s no longer a superstar in the NBA, Thomas can still come off the bench and score 15 to 20 points while running a second unit. It will be interesting to see if Thibodeau and the Knicks take a look at Thomas once the 2020 offseason period officially begins.

Now 31, Thomas has career NBA averages of 18.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 525 regular-season games with the Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns, Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets and Wizards.
