Fresh off his first ever NBA All-Star Game appearance, New York Knicks power forward Julius Randle has posted a gleaming review of his weekend in Atlanta.

The 26-year-old played 13 minutes in his first NBA All-Star Game, scoring four points from two field goals.

In a post on his Instagram, Julius Randle spoke of how his grandma would've felt seeing him on the court and called the experience a “blessing”:

I know my granny looking down proud of me!! 👼 first all star in the books! Was a blessing to be apart of and something I could never take for granted. Ready for this second of the season now! 😤😤 #newyorkforever

Despite playing limited time for Team Durant, who fell to Team LeBron 170-150, Julius Randle had a busy day on All-Star Sunday, taking part in the Skills Competition, finding himself used as a prop during the Slam Dunk Contest and then playing his 13 minutes during the main game itself.

He became the first Knicks players since Kristaps Porziņģis in 2018 to be selected for the NBA All-Star Game.

According to the New York Post, Julius Randle said the appearance on Sunday was all about the “journey” of getting the to his first All-Star game, saying he had cried when he learnt he was voted as an All-Star reserve for the Eastern Conference by coaches.

Julius Randle has played in all 38 Knicks games so far this season and leads the NBA in total minutes.

The Knicks headed into the All-Star break exceeding all expectations, sitting a game clear in a playoffs spot in fifth place in the East with a 19-18 record. Randle has been a central reason for New York's improvement and evolution under coach Tom Thibodeau, who has pushed the right buttons and has authored a very different story compared to his failed tenure with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Randle is part of one of the more pleasant surprises in the NBA this season.
