After being the eighth overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, Frank Ntilikina has only appeared in two of the four games for the New York Knicks. With the Knicks starting the 2017-18 NBA season winless, head coach Jeff Hornacek gave his rookie an opportunity against the Brooklyn Nets.

In 23 minutes, Ntilikina finished with nine points, two rebounds, and five assists as the Knicks defeated the Nets, 107-86. Following their first win of the season, Kristaps Porzingis believes Ntilikina will be a ‘triple-double guy' according to Marc Berman of New York Post:

“He’s going to be a triple-double guy,’’ Porzingis said of the point guard. “That’s the type of player he is.’’

After the Knicks traded Carmelo Anthony to the Oklahoma City Thunder, it appeared they were embracing a full rebuild. While Kristaps Porzingis is establishing himself as the team's franchise player, players like Ntilikina and Willy Hernangomez have not played significant minutes yet.

At the point guard position, Hornacek started Ramon Sessions for the first three games before starting Jarret Jack against the Nets. If Ntilikina shows he can have this type of performances on a consistent basis, it will hopefully force Hornacek to play him major minutes and help speed up the development process.
