The New York Knicks will finish the 2018-19 regular season with the worst record in the entire NBA. However, there are definitely at least a few positives that New York can pluck out of this season.

According to veteran small forward Lance Thomas, the Knicks have done a fine job of developing their young talents despite not winning very many games.

“I think we've done a good job of focusing on the growth of our young guys,” Thomas recently told Ian Begley of ESPN. “That was always a goal of ours. I think that the coaching staff has done a great job of that. I think [Mitchell Robinson] is playing at a super high level, [Kevin Knox] is playing at a high level. All our young guys are playing at a high level.”

Thomas added that rebuilding with their young core has always been the primary goal for the Knicks, something which the team has accomplished.

“That was the goal for the coaching staff and those guys,” Lance Thomas continued. “I think that goal has been accomplished. If the record was better and maybe some of their minutes weren't where they wanted it to be, who knows what their development would have been like. So we had a clear vision of developing the young guys and I think we did a good job of that.”

As it stands today, the Knicks sit at a disappointing 16-64, though this summer could be a memorable one in the Big Apple. They could land Zion Williamson or any of the top 3 picks in the 2019 draft, giving them another bright young talent to add to their core of Dennis Smith Jr., Mitchell Robinson and Kevin Knox.
