The New York Knicks features tons of young talent, none more important than Kristaps Porizingis.

But Knicks general manager believes that an elder player is just as important to the team as its young stars.

Scott Perry said he has not bought out Joakim Noah's contract because he likes the veteran leadership he provides, per Mark Berman of the New York Post.

“I like having some veteran people around to help a young team,” Perry said in a wide-ranging interview Satuday at United Center when asked directly about buying out Noah. “His veteran experience is very helpful to have in the locker room. As of right now, I’m comfortable he’s here. Let’s see what he can contribute going forward. He’s done everything we’ve asked of him and embraced where he is in his career. It’ll happen at some point (that he”ll play).’’

Noah is in the role that many NBA players are in throughout the NBA this season. Luol Deng and JJ Redick are immediate examples, players who are signed almost specifically to guide the young players on their teams and teach them to be professionals in the NBA.

Many Knicks fans want Noah gone, but if he can provide much-needed guidance to Porzingis and others, it may behoove the organization to keep him for a while.
