New York Knicks legend and color commentator Walt Frazier had his reservations about first-time All-Star forward Kristaps Porzingis, criticizing him after he sat out against the defending champions Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night.

Porzingis was sidelined with knee stiffness and didn't suit up next to his teammates, something that irked the longtime Knicks voice.

“He's on the threshold of greatness, but you got to go against the Warriors, man,” Frazier said on the Warriors pregame show on 95.7 The Game in the Bay Area, according to Stefan Bondy of The New York Daily News. “We've played against some elite teams this year and he hasn't been ready to play. You can't be injured against those type of teams. Like (Tuesday night) the team needs him.”

“You're an All-Star, you've just been voted to the All-Star team so go out there and show the Warriors why.”

The Knicks eventually fell 123-112, giving the Warriors a run for their money during the first half and shooting over 50 percent from the field for the entire game.

New York has only won three of their 12 games this month, as Porzingis has shot over 50 percent in only two of the 11 games in which he's played in — a large reason for their struggles as the team's leading scorer. But this will be a short-lived absence for the unicorn, as he plans to return for a tough test against Denver in the Mile High City.

“I feel much better,” Porzingis said, adding that there's a “74 percent chance” he'll suit up against the Nuggets.
