New York Knicks center Willy Hernangomez has requested a trade to the team's front office, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical. Hernangomez has found himself in the middle of a four-man logjam at his position, along with starter Enes Kanter and reserves Kyle O'Quinn and Joakim Noah; who is away from the team.

If things weren't any more hectic in the Big Apple, the Knicks' front office will now have to find ways to explore a trade for two of their centers in Noah and Hernangomez, with the latter being the more viable option due to his youth, performance, and friendly contract.

Hernangomez has only played in 25 of the team’s 54 games and averaged 4.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 9.2 minutes after falling out of Jeff Hornacek's rotation, numbers that pale in comparison to last season, where he posted 8.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, with some of them coming as a starter for the latter part of the season.

Teams around the league have dabbled interest in the young center, thanks to the two years remaining on his four-year rookie contract, signed in 2016. Hernangomez is guaranteed $1.54 million in 2018-19 and a trigger date worth $1.7 million in 2019-20, according to Charania.

Hernangomez, who starred for his homeland's Real Madrid, was drafted with the No. 35 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, paying major dividends for the Knicks through the absence of Noah due to injury and later on a 20-game suspension for taking banned substances. He is only 23 years old.
