As the 2017-18 NBA season draws closer, Carmelo Anthony's future with the New York Knicks remains uncertain. With the 10-time All-Star willing to waive his no-trade clause for the Houston Rockets, President Steve Mills and general manager Scott Perry are hoping he expands his list.

According to Ian Begley of ESPN, the Knicks were ‘not close' on any trade involving Anthony:

As of last week, the New York Knicks were “not close” on any deal involving Anthony, per league sources. They've talked on and off with the Houston Rockets for much of the summer, but there's been no recent momentum toward a deal.

In addition, the Knicks believe the Rockets do not have anything that appeals to them:

The Knicks have told people around the league recently that Houston simply doesn't have anything that appeals to them.

For much of the offseason, Ryan Anderson has been linked with the Knicks. However, despite being one of the best three-point shooting big men in the league, he still has three-years, $60 million remaining on his contract that he signed last year.

At this point, a third team will likely have to get involved in order for the Knicks and Anthony to get their wish. While the Portland Trail Blazers have reportedly been part of discussions, the Milwaukee Bucks emerged as a potential third team.
