Andrew Bogut was recently been released by the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, marking his fourth departure from an NBA team since his tenure with the Golden State Warriors. It seems that Ivica Zubac has learned a few things from the Australian big man during his time with the Lakers, according to Ryan Ward of Clutch Points.

“Great teammate. He was a great teammate for everybody. He helped me so much with him being able to speak Croatian. Helped me a lot.”

Bogut's premature release from the Lakers came as a result of the NBA's deadline for guaranteeing contracts. Apparently, the Lakers didn't see fit to add Bogut to their long-term plans. Still, Zubac believes that Bogut has been a great influence on him and the Lakers, especially now that he is working on his game.

“My outside game. Working on my 3-point shot. My pick-and-roll defense. Being able to switch on a guard when it is needed and just be more aggressive. Every time I'm on the court to seal hard, roll hard and play hard defense.”

Zubac is currently averaging 1.0 points, 0.9 rebounds, and 0.1 assists on 3.6 minutes for the Lakers. He mentioned that he is working on his three-point shot which would complement his game since the 7-foot-1 inch center has only attempted one three-pointer in his entire career.

The second-year center is receiving significantly lower minutes than he did last year (16) but is still showing the work ethic to make his game better and suitable for the modern day NBA. If the results can prove that Zubac is getting better, he may receive more minutes for the Lakers down the road.
