In 2008, then 22-year-old Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard won the Slam Dunk Contest. Over a decade later, a 34-year-old Howard has a chance to win the contest again … at least that's what his Los Angeles Lakers teammate Anthony Davis thinks.

Per Harrison Faigen of SB Nation, Davis will be in attendance for the 2020 Slam Dunk Contest to support his teammate. And according to Davis, if Howard does the dunks he said he will do, he should win.

In 2008, Howard defeated Gerald Green, Jamario Moon and Rudy Gay after receiving 78 percent of the votes via fan voting

It has been a long time since Howard's 2008 Dunk contest win and while there's no debate that he is no longer the superstar he was in Orlando, the veteran big man has still proven he can be a major contributor in the league.

In 19.8 minutes off the bench for the Lakers, Howard is putting up 7.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting a career-high 73.8 percent from the floor.

Howard will be joining Miami Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr., Milwaukee Bucks guard Pat Connaughton and Orlando Magic power forward Aaron Gordon.

Howard and Jones Jr. are both participating in their second dunk contest while 2020 will be the third appearance for Gordon.

As for the Lakers as a team, both Anthony Davis and Dwight Howard have helped lead the Purple and Gold to a first-place seeding in the Western Conference at the break with a 41-12 record.
