Anthony Davis’ hotel room has been flocked by Los Angeles Lakers teammates, suddenly becoming a hub for the Lakers and used as a gathering spot for special events, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

The team has used Davis' room to watch the popular “Verzuz” rap battles between Snoop Dogg and DMX, as well as 2 Chainz and Rick Ross, and to hold a Madden tournament.

Davis explained why his room became the designated hang spot for his teammates:

“I’m one of the few who has a suite and I’m the tech guy of the team who knows how to set up all the devices and connect them to the TV,” said Davis. “LeBron [James] is a big Snoop Dogg fan and actually a big DMX fan, and so my room made sense. It started with that and then we just kept it going from there.”

While Davis is open to his teammates finding another spot, he acknowledged it's unlikely at this point as the playoffs draw closer.

On another note, there are coaches who have recently asked their players to refrain from fraternizing with their opponents on the eve of the playoffs — something that has been met with mixed reviews.

On one hand, coaches are trying to keep their players laser-focused. On another, the constant feeling of potential distractions and tampering is a thorn in the neck that is difficult to pluck.

Players like Davis, for example, who will have the opportunity to opt out of his contract at the end of this season, could make this a particularly unnerving experience if non-Lakers players were allowed in his room.

Stars and role players from different teams can see each other at any time in their respective hotels, an environment that calls for fraternizing but with its shared dose of skepticism.
