Anthony Davis is edging closer to his Los Angeles Lakers return, head coach Frank Vogel confirmed.

A knee injury has seen Lakers big man Anthony Davis missing three of the Lakers’ 28 games thus far. The All-Star center was treated before Friday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder but was eventually ruled out about an hour before tip-off.

However, the Lakers are now beginning to see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel as a major update from coach Frank Vogel strongly suggests that the OKC game will be the last time Davis will be sidelined.

According to Vogel, Davis is very likely to make his return in the start of the Lakers' three-game road trip, specifically against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.

“We did an ultrasound on it,” Vogel said of Davis' injury via The Orange County Register. “Everything is structurally intact. Just taking another day, with the two days off before the next game, and hopefully we’ll put this behind us.”

Barring his maiden season in Los Angeles, Davis' time with the Lakers have been ravaged a bit by injuries.

It can be recalled that he missed almost half of the last season due to an Achilles strain. In the post-season, he then strained his groin against the Phoenix during the first round of the playoffs. Before incurring a knee injury this season, Davis was productively averaging 24 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per outing.

Undeniably, Davis' return will add depth to the Lakers' overall form as the team looks to extend its winning streak to three games in a row.
