Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James returned to the lineup on Friday against the Sacramento Kings after sitting out six weeks due to a high ankle sprain.

His partner-in-crime, Anthony Davis, who just returned to the Lakers after missing significant time himself, apparently found out about James' return in a pretty peculiar way. According to Ryan Ward of Lakers Nation, The Brow got word of The King's return when Montrezl Harrell sent a GIF of people dancing in their team chat.

So, LeBron didn't tell him?

Lakers Nation was definitely to see the 4-time MVP back in uniform. Unfortunately, his first game back came in a disappointing 110-106 loss to the lottery-bound Kings. Nonetheless, James still finished with 16 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists in 32 minutes. As for Davis, he top-scored for the defending champs with 22 points, adding 11 rebounds and five blocks, but struggled with his shot, going just 9-of-19 from the field.

The loss drops the Purple and Gold to just a half game above the 6th seeded Dallas Mavericks and one game over the 7th place Portland Trail Blazers. With nine games left on their schedule, James and Davis don't have much to shake off rust as they try to position themselves in the Western Conference standings.

They ideally wouldn't want to fall below the top-6, as the 7 to 10 seeds will fight for the final two playoff spots in a play-in tournament. Still, falling to 6th would likely pit them in a first round match-up with in-town rivals Los Angeles Clippers. That would definitely be an interesting and tough match up out of the gates for the Lakers in the postseason as they look to defend their throne.
