When you play in the NBA, you have to always keep your bags packed. It doesn't matter who you are. That's just how the business works. Los Angeles Lakers forward Brandon Ingram knows this better than anyone.

Over the summer, Ingram was at the center of the Kawhi Leonard trade rumors, with many speculating that the Lakers would have to part with Ingram in order to snatch Leonard from the San Antonio Spurs.

Of course, Leonard was ultimately dealt to the Toronto Raptors for DeMar DeRozan, but Ingram still knows that whenever a star player becomes available, his name will be rumored in trade talks.

Like Anthony Davis, for example.

Anthony Davis asked the New Orleans Pelicans for a trade on Monday, and the Lakers are expected to be one of the first teams in line in trying to acquire his services.

And who represents one of the best prospects Los Angeles has to trade to New Orleans? Ingram, of course.

When asked about the trade rumors, the third-year wing said, “I control what I can control,” per Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints.

In a way, you have to feel for the kid.

He was originally selected by the Lakers with the second overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft, and ever since then, he has been thought of as someone who would help LA acquire its next star rather than actually becoming a star for the Lakers.

On the season, the 21-year-old is averaging 16.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists over 32.8 minutes per game while shooting 47.5 percent from the floor and 30.9 percent from three-point range.
