As expected, Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel says superstar big man Anthony Davis is going to be a “major focal point” for the Purple and Gold on both ends of the floor.

Davis is not only an elite offensive talent, but he's a stout defender who can defend positions one through five. The new Lakers coach can't wait to utilize Davis next season on offense and defense.

“He's a major focal point. He's one of the best players in the league,” Vogel told Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated. “He'll be involved in every way that I can possibly use him. Offensively, he's got the ability to play the four or the five, stretch the floor from the three-point line, post up, be a lob threat rolling through the basket. He literally does it all. He'll be able to rebound and push on the break.

“Obviously, you're going to be a major factor there. And then defensively, he can do it all as well. He's got that athleticism, can guard on the perimeter, an elite rim protector, a rebounder. Just one of the best two-way players in the game. Usually when you talk about two-way players, you're talking about wings, you know, the Paul George's and Kawhi Leonard's of the world. Avery Bradley for instance, another guy we have on our squad. But you don't usually talk about guys like that at the power forward or center position, and that's what we have in AD.”

Anthony Davis is a walking double-double. He has career averages of 23.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.4 blocks.

Davis has led the league in blocks per game three times in his career.

The Lakers are looking forward to having another rim protector on the team after losing Tyson Chandler to the Houston Rockets in free agency. JaVale McGee and Davis defend the basket at a high-level.

Teams are going to have nightmares trying to stop Davis and LeBron James on offense, especially in the pick-and-roll game. Both stars rank in the top-three for PER in NBA history.
