Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant will go down as one of the best to ever play the game of basketball. but, one man thinks Giannis Antetokounmpo could be surpassing him as we speak.

Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd believes that the Greek Freak is playing better than Kobe did in his prime. Via Lakers Daily:

“Remember, Kobe was a volume scorer,” Cowherd said. “He was not efficient. Giannis is efficient. … This is hard. Come on. These are not easy questions. See, I don’t like flash and glamour. I like the midrange.”

The Lakers icon, who passed away in 2020, would certainly be pleased to watch Antetokounmpo, though. His commitment to one franchise is a treat to watch, truly taking them from the bottom to the top.

For what it's worth, Cowherd isn't saying Giannis is better than Bryant. He's simply pointing out that what the Bucks star is doing right now is more impressive than Kobe's prime years and he has a point. The Greek Freak is arguably the most unstoppable force in the Association thanks to his length and athleticism. Plus, with an improved mid-range game, he's truly a force to be reckoned with. So was Kobe with the Lakers, but there were certain things he couldn't do that Antetokounmpo can.

We'll see if Giannis can lead the Bucks to another Finals run, but the Celtics are certainly no easy task. We saw just that in Game 2.
