For almost 25 days, Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has been staying in a police detention facility in Seal Beach, Calif., just south of Los Angeles.

According to a report that was published late Saturday night by ESPN staff writer Chris Haynes, the 24-year-old is finally set to be released tomorrow.

“Lakers guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is being released from the Seal Beach Detention Center on Monday morning and would be permitted to travel with the team outside of California, league sources tell ESPN,” Haynes said. “Sources say he will no longer be on probation and will have no restrictions on his driver’s license.”

It was first reported by Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times on first reported Dec. 21 that Caldwell-Pope was ordered to serve 25 days in jail after he failed to comply with drug and alcohol screening orders. This probation violation originally stemmed from a March 2017 arrest for suspicion of DUI in Auburn Hills, Mich.

The Lakers have lost nine games in a row and during that time, Caldwell-Pope’s poor play during his incarceration is one of the numerous problems surrounding the team as of late. Before he was sentenced to 25 days in the detention center, Caldwell-Pope was playing pretty well and averaged 14.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.8 steals per game in roughly 34.5 minutes of action per contest.

Kentavious-Pope and the Lakers (11-27) will have a golden opportunity to end their disastrous skid tonight when they host the Atlanta Hawks (10-28) at Staples Center. The contest, which features the two teams with the worst records in their respective conferences, will tip off shortly after 6:30 p.m. PT.
