The Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks played an exciting game on Wednesday night. It was full of twists and turns, lead changes and big moments. In the end, the Lakers defeated the Mavs in overtime on a game-winning three point shot from rookie Austin Reaves.

With the game tied at 104 and the closing seconds ticking down, Russell Westbrook found Austin Reaves all alone on the wing for the winner. Reaves, a 23-year-old rookie out of Oklahoma hit the biggest shot of his brief NBA career.

The end of regulation and overtime saw momentum swing back and forth. With time winding down in regulation, Lakers' Wayne Ellington sank a triple with two seconds left to send the game to overtime.

In overtime, LeBron James jammed it home with just over a minute remaining, giving the Lakers a 3-point lead. Seconds later, Tim Hardaway Jr. hit a three to tie it.

Westbrook answered back with a three of his own with only 24 seconds left, giving the Lakers a 104-101 lead. Less than 10 seconds later, Maxi Kleber tied it once again with a triple of his own.

Not to be outdone, Reaves saved the best for last.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, the Lakers and Mavs combined for five game-tying or go-ahead three's in the final minute of the 4th quarter and overtime. That is only the 2nd time that has happened over the last 25 years.

The Bulls and the Pacers also accomplished in 2019. The Lakers continue to be the overtime kings of the NBA season, with a new hero emerging. The rookie, Reaves, finished with 15 points hitting five three's in the win.
