LeBron James' streak of 10 consecutive games played for the Los Angeles Lakers came to an end on Monday after he was surprisingly ruled out just moments before their matchup against the San Antonio Spurs. Apparently, LeBron was dealing with “significant” soreness on his left knee, which forced him to sit out LA's 117-110 loss to Gregg Popovich's men.

Right now, LeBron appears to be in danger of missing two straight games after being tagged as questionable ahead of the Lakers' Wednesday night clash against the Houston Rockets (h/t Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times):

It's still the left knee that's still bothering LeBron and at this point, it has become quite concerning. If the swelling does not subside, then he might be forced to watch his team from the sidelines on Wednesday.

It is worth noting, however, that the Lakers have tagged The King as questionable for pretty much every single game over the past several weeks. Despite this, he was able to take the court. This is exactly why many were surprised when LeBron actually sat out the Spurs game. I guess this now makes the questionable tag more believable, particularly ahead of Wednesday's bout against the Rockets.

There is no denying that the Lakers need LeBron to play in every single game from here on out. He's clearly playing through injury, which probably wouldn't have been the case if the Lakers had a better standing out in the Western Conference. Right now, however, they remain in ninth place in the conference and are clinging on to a play-in spot. Every game is critical for LA, and so long as there is no risk of a major injury, we fully expect LeBron to get out there.

Anthony Davis is still nursing a foot sprain and there is no timetable for his return. He could be closing in on his comeback, though, now that he's been out of action for more than a month. He's supposed to get re-evaluated sometime next week so hopefully, the Lakers get some good news on that front. But until AD returns, much of the burden will need to be carried by LeBron.
