After watching Kyrie Irving's impressive display in Game 1 of their playoff series with the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James couldn't help but mention the NBA's snub of the Brooklyn Nets guard for its 75th Anniversary team.

There were a lot of snubs for the NBA 75 team, and many argue that Irving should have made it. After all, not only is he a champion and multiple-time All-Star, he has also the numbers and skills to make a case as one of the 75 best players in league history.

Unfortunately, he didn't make the cut and many point to recency bias as the main reason. To recall, during the decision-making process for the 75th anniversary team, Irving was out fighting his battle against mandates and the COVID-19 vaccine.

James, for his part, reminded everyone of that mistake once again as he highlighted that it's a “damn shame he ain't Top 75.”

Kyrie Irving finished with 39 points on Sunday against the Celtics, and he almost won it for the Nets after banking a clutch triple with under a minute left to give them a 114-111 lead. LeBron James was even in awe after the play, with the Lakers star calling Irving “God-rie” for his phenomenal display.

Of course debating about the NBA Top 75 is useless now with everything said and done. However, the comments from the Lakers star shows the problem in the selection of the list and how it shouldn't really be taken on surface level. After all, beyond Irving, plenty other players who deserved to be among the greatest list weren't included.
