Is Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James a genius on the basketball court? Isiah Thomas certainly thinks so.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Thomas shared his belief that James is “the Einstein of basketball”

“Look at every legend’s coaching tree and you can see how, philosophically, their greatness is formed,” Thomas explained. “Kareem, Magic, Bird, Jordan, myself, you can look at our coaches in college and the pros and study the way we learned the game. LeBron James came out of high school. Who was his teacher? LeBron is a genius-type basketball mind, and that’s why I refer to him as the Einstein of basketball.”

Isiah Thomas would go on to talk about LeBron's desire to stay at the top of the game even after being in the league for almost two decades, as well as his willingness to do everything on the court — whether it's scoring, rebounding or passing.

“I admire his insatiable appetite to be on top and stay on top,” the NBA icon furthered about the Lakers star. “I’ve never seen a player dominate so many statistical categories. We’ve had players dominate certain areas, but we’ve never seen a player that truly does it all. And he’s done it, without fail, for 17 years. For now, Kareem is the best that’s ever done it. But by the time he’s done, LeBron James will be the best we have ever seen play the game of basketball.”

LeBron is currently focused on getting his fourth NBA title in the bubble. The Lakers are in the Western Conference Finals where they are matched up the Denver Nuggets.

Los Angeles took a 1-0 lead against Nikola Jokic and Co. last Friday, with LeBron showing off his full arsenal with a 15-point, six-rebound and 12-assists outing.

The King's genius will be tested throughout the series, especially with the Nuggets proving that they shouldn't be taken lightly after coming back from a 3-1 series deficit twice.
