The Los Angeles Lakers are set to play in Salt Lake City this Tuesday against the Utah Jazz, but they could likely roll with a roster that is missing their rookie point guard in Lonzo Ball. According to Lakers beat reporter Tania Ganguli, Ball is being deemed doubtful as of the moment for the date with Utah.

Brandon Ingram didn't travel with the Lakers to Utah and is out for tomorrow's game. Lonzo Ball did travel but is doubtful. Naturally, Alex Caruso is still with them.

Lonzo Ball has missed the Lakers’ last two games because of a knee contusion. The 20-year-old court general picked up the injury during last week’s 103-93 win at home against the visiting Dallas Mavericks, when he banged knees with Mavs legend Dirk Nowitzki late in the third quarter. Ball exited the Dallas game and never returned but not before posting eight points, five assists, and four rebounds in 24 minutes of action on the floor. On the season, Ball is averaging 10.2 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.9 rebounds per game.

There is no real urgent reason for the Lakers to rush Ball back into action. The team has been long eliminated from playoff contention and keeping their young stars healthy the rest of the way could be a higher priority for them than winning meaningless games at this point of the season.

In case that Ball will get ultimately ruled out for the Jazz game, expect Alex Caruso to make another start. Caruso was part of the Lakers’ first-five unit on Sunday, scoring only seven points and dishing out two assists in 30 minutes of an 84-83 loss at home at the hands of the Sacramento Kings.
