Luke Walton will be facing a lot of pressure this year. After all, not only is he entering a new season with the Los Angeles Lakers, he'll also be coaching LeBron James. But for Magic Jonhson, Walton shouldn't be worried about a slow start.

As reported by Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN, Johnson told Walton not to worry about starting slow. The Lakers added a lot of pieces over the summer and it may take some time for them to mesh well with one another. Johnson cited James' previous stints with the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers, noting that it took some time before the team developed.

“As I was talking to Luke [with GM Rob Pelinka], we said don't worry about if we get out to a bad start,” Johnson, the Lakers' president of basketball operations, said Thursday as the team's brass met with the media. “We have seen that with LeBron [James] going to Miami, and we have seen that when he came back to Cleveland. He is going to struggle because there are so many new moving parts. But eventually we are going to get it, and we are going to be really a good team.”

However, several critics said that James and the Lakers cannot afford to start slow in the Western Conference. Come the second half of the season, if the Lakers are still looking to find that chemistry, then it might as well be over for them.
