Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports reports that the Los Angeles Lakers have reached an agreement to sign Quinn Cook to a 2-year, $6-million deal.

After the Lakers missed out on Kawhi Leonard, they have now explored what's left of the free agency market. Los Angeles has been in dire need of a point guard, and they found their first man in Quinn Cook.

Cook played for the Golden State Warriors from 2017 to 2019 and won an NBA championship with them in 2017-18. The Warriors rescinded their $1.9-million qualifying offer to the former G-League stand out after they acquired All-Star point guard D'Angelo Russell in a sign-and-trade deal with the Brooklyn Nets.

In two seasons with Golden State, Cook became a locker room favorite and a great fit as a knock down shooter in head coach Steve Kerr's free-flowing offense. He averaged 7.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.9 assists and shot 47.2 percent from the field and 41.8 percent from deep in 121 career games in the Bay Area.

Cook definitely fills a much-needed spot for the Lakers. Moreover, he figures as a great fit next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. After losing Leonard to their rival Clippers, the Lakers ideally want to fill their roster with shooters, and Cook fits that bill perfectly.

Leonard's week-long stalling and mulling of options has essentially dried up the market for the Lakers. In addition to Cook, the Lakers also locked up Danny Green to a 2-year $30-million contract. They also retained shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to a 2-year, 16-million deal and Javale McGee to a 2-year, $8-million contract.

We will soon see how this Lakers roster shapes up in the next couple of days.
