It's now been three years since Los Angeles Lakers star Russell Westbrook left the Oklahoma City Thunder, but it is clear that he still holds the city close to his heart. The former league MVP recently returned to OKC to make an awesome donation through his foundation. Russ was met by city Mayor David Holt who in turn, presented Westbrook with the ultimate honor.

The Lakers star recently donated a futsal court to the city via his Why Not? Foundation. Mayor Holt showed OKC's appreciation by giving Westbrook the keys to the city.

“My foundation, we want to continue to support things in Oklahoma City as much as we can,” Westbrook said, via Joe Mussatto of The Oklahoman. “This place for me was home, and it still is home for me.”

Before officially handing the key to the city to Westbrook, Mayor Holt revealed that the event was “not publicly advertised” beforehand. It appears that the Lakers star did not want a spotlight shone on his act of generosity, which makes this even more genuine.

“That was one of many hundreds of amazing memories that this MVP, this Oklahoma hall of famer, this Oklahoma City legend left us with,” Holt said. “But more importantly, it’s the incredible philanthropic donations that he made and continues to make.”

You can say a lot of things about Westbrook, but one thing about the Lakers star is that he truly is a good person.
