LeBron James spoke about his personal motivation during the Los Angeles Lakers' 2019-20 campaign as L.A. prepares for the Western Conference Finals.

LeBron James mentioned he was excited at the prospect of working with head coach Frank Vogel and, of course, the arrival of Anthony Davis:

“Having the battles that I had with [coach Vogel] and his Indiana Pacer team, I already knew what he would bring to the table,” James said, via Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints. “I was just excited about the opportunity to link with AD–such a great talent–link with coach Vogel and the coaching staff, players that we were starting to sign and things of that nature.”

LeBron James also noted he got some words of advice from his mother, who encouraged him to stay the course and remain hungry through the ups and downs:

“My Mom told me ‘Don't talk about it, be about it,'” James said, via Azarly. “So I didn't really say much. Just go out and do your job, and live with the results.”

LeBron James has thrived in his second year in L.A., establishing excellent chemistry and emerging as a top MVP candidate as the Lakers rolled to the best record in the West.

Of course, the regular season results will not mean much if LeBron James and Co. cannot capture the NBA title.

The Lakers lost the first game in each of their first two series.' But they proceeded to win four straight on both occasions, and now have a date with the Denver Nuggets.

LeBron James appears determined to block out the outside noise and lock in as he looks to get back to the Finals for the first time since 2018.
