After parting ways with Luke Walton earlier this month, the Los Angeles Lakers find themselves in search of a new head coach. The team is said to be interested in several candidates, including former Cavs coach Tyronn Lue.

Lue, now 41 years of age, served as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers during their championship-winning season (2015-16). In three-plus seasons as coach of the team, he posted a 128-83 record. However, after a shaky start to this season (0-6), the Mexico, Missouri native lost his position.

Lue has a unique relationship with LeBron James, which could play a role in the Lakers' decision.

Lue has already met with the Lakers once, but it sounds like the team would like to take a second look. According to a report from Joe Vardon of The Athletic, Los Angeles will interview Lue on Wednesday. And for the first time, he'll meet with co-owner Jeanie Buss:

The fact that the Lakers are bringing Lue back for a second meeting does not mean he's a shoo-in for the job, though it would be a nice fit for James. It could bring a certain level of familiarity to a franchise that is currently dealing with several issues.

The Lakers were unable to land a second superstar at the trade deadline, despite the fact that they were willing to trade most of their young core. Walton is out as head coach, and Magic Johnson has stepped down as president of basketball operations. Clearly, these are turbulent times for the Lakers.

As a former Laker, fans in Los Angeles might be a bit more receptive to a guy like Tyronn Lue. Whether or not he'll actually land the job remains to be seen, but it sounds like there is significant interest.
