The legend of Kobe Bryant will forever live in the hearts of many athletes all around the globe. His accolades are only outnumbered by the lives he touched. Now, the Los Angeles Lakers great will perpetually be attached to a prestigious award.

During the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday Night, Phoenix Suns guard Chris Paul was given the inaugural Kobe & Gigi Bryant WNBA Advocacy Award. It was Kobe's wife Vanessa Bryant herself who gave the honor to CP3. They shared a lengthy hug during the special moment to remember the Black Mamba and Gigi (via Bleacher Report).

Vanessa has been nothing but gracious in aiding the efforts of many to honor her late husband. Taking the time to appear at the NBA All-Star Game despite her busy schedule was surely a classy gesture.

Paul, for his part, has had valuable contributions in continuing Kobe's advocacy to push for the advancement of girls' and women's basketball. In a statement, WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert was more than proud to honor the Suns playmaker and of course, Kobe and Gigi.

“I have seen first-hand Chris’ appreciation of the WNBA and the game at every level for women and girls, especially in Phoenix and North Carolina, and his ardent support of our game strongly reflects the legacy of Kobe and Gigi. The league is proud to name Chris as the inaugural recipient of the Kobe and Gigi Bryant WNBA Advocacy Award, as he serves as a leader and role model for other professional athletes around growing the future of the game of young girls and all fans.”

Somewhere up there, Kobe Bryant must be smiling from ear to ear.
