Los Angeles Lakers guard Josh Hart took the Summer League finals game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday a little bit too serious.

The former Villanova Wildcats star was thrown out of the game in the fourth quarter after picking up two consecutive technical fouls. The Lakers were trailing Portland by 19 points with less than five minutes remaining in regulation. That big deficit and Hart’s apparent frustration over his performance perhaps did more to erode his composure than anything else that happened in the contest.

After erupting for a Summer League record 37 points on Monday during a 112-109 semifinals win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, Hart went cold in the title game. Before hitting the showers early, Hart scored only 12 points and shot just 3-for-12 from the field and missed all of his attempts from behind the arc.  The Lakers would eventually lose to the Blazers, 91-73, a bitter end to an otherwise thrilling Summer League ride for Hart and the Lakers.

It was also Hart’s second ejection in this year’s Summer League, as he was also expelled from a game against the Sacramento Kings earlier this month.

Although Tyler Ford, the referee that threw Hart out of the Portland game, did not like what the player said to him, Lakers fans must be appreciating the passion the shooting guard displayed in the tournament.
