One of the main highlights of the recently concluded BET Awards was an electrifying performance by Grammy-winning hip-hop artist Lil Wayne to honor Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.

Lil Wayne performed an updated version of his 2009 track entitled “Kobe Bryant,” and it was truly a memorable nod for the late Lakers superstar:

Lil Wayne's updated version features some of the best highlights from Kobe's illustrious career, including a couple from his final season with the Lakers. Unsurprisingly, the rapper praised Bryant for his 60-point outing in his final game of his career, which was a beautiful way to cap Kobe's 20-year career.

One of the most touching lines of the song paid homage to Byrant and his fallen daughter, Gigi, who was also one of the victims who died during that fatal helicopter accident back in January:

“This is Black power status / Two fingers for the Mambacita / I'm screamin' Black Mamba matters.”

Lil Wayne also offered a shoutout to Bryant's widow, Vanessa, as well as the rest of Kobe's family:

“Heart goes out to Vanessa and the whole Black Mamba family,” he continued. “Rest in power / Let's hope for peace / Black lives matter, facts.”

The rapper also added in a message toward the end of his performance pertaining to the fight against systemic racism in the nation. Wayne showed his support for the Black Lives Matter movement, but at the same time promoted peaceful action in order to get things done. Props to Weezy for using his platform for good.
