Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson shared some fond memories of the late Kobe Bryant ahead of Sunday afternoon's game between the Lakers and Boston Celtics.

Johnson spoke about Bryant's commitment to winning and his dedication to the Lakers franchise. He also spoke about Kobe's life after basketball, which included a successful media business and an effort to helping grow women's basketball:

Johnson added that it will be “hard for the city to move on” because of Bryant's impact on Los Angeles and his sheer presence. Kobe was “bigger than life,” as Magic so eloquently put it:

The Lakers will honor Kobe and his daughter Gianna with a memorial on Monday after they — along with seven others — were killed in a helicopter crash near Calabasas on Jan. 26.

Johnson in particular developed a close relationship with Bryant from the time he was drafted in 1996, and he has said on numerous occasions that Kobe is the greatest Laker of all time.

The memorial — which will be held at Staples Center at 10 a.m. PT — will likely feature more stories from Johnson and others who had the privilege of knowing Kobe.
