Even for the internet, the rumors surrounding Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift on Thursday seemed a bit crazy.

Unverified reports surfaced that Swift was involved in a shooting that took place earlier this summer that left one person dead. Normally, rumors like this with no merit can be dismissed quickly but this one seemed to gain some steam for whatever reason.

On Friday, Lions coach Dan Campbell was asked about the rumors and he shut them down pretty fast.

Campbell is entering his first year as head coach of the Lions and with Week 1 set for Sunday, gossip and internet chatter likely isn't what he wanted to be focused on as Detroit gets set to take on the San Francisco 49ers.

For Swift, he is entering his second year in the NFL and is expected to be the focal point of the running game for the Lions. He had an up-and-down rookie season with Detroit but will be leaned on heavily this year with an offense that is expected to have some hiccups.

Gone are Matthew Stafford and Kenny Golladay and in is Jared Goff, who came over in a trade to the Lions from the Los Angeles Rams.

It's worth nothing that the Philadelphia Police Department has said that Swift is not being investigated at this time for the crime that was committed.
