The Detroit Lions have had nothing but bad news this week when it comes to injuries. On Thursday, their top receiver T.J. Hockenson underwent thumb surgery, putting an early end to his season. To make things worse, the Lions listed star rusher D'Andre Swift as out for their Week 15 matchup in Friday's updated injury report.

On Monday, Lions head coach Dan Campbell was “hopeful” that Swift would suit up on Sunday against the Cardinals, per CBS Sports. That same day, Swift told the media that both him and Hockenson were “feeling better.” Just a few days later, Hockenson underwent season ending thumb surgery. And a day after that, Swift was listed as out for his third game in a row due to a lingering AC joint sprain.

Even before Hockenson's season ended and Swift was ruled out, the Lions had a very small chance at performing to the same standards as the Cardinals in their Week 15 matchup. With Kyler Murray back in full force for Arizona, they will most likely blow the Lions out of the water.

That being said, there's still a chance that the Lions could make something out of nothing. Just two weeks ago, the Lions took home their first win of the season against the Minnesota Vikings. If Detroit can somehow come up with a miracle win, they will improve their record to 2-11-1. But if the game goes as expected, the Cardinals will secure their spot in the playoffs.
